It’s a shame the BBC isn’t a cheap whore.

The BBC reported all too seriously today that Europeans get drunk ‘to have sex.’ While the article has many striking statistics and choice quotes,

A third of 16 to 35-year-old men and 23% of women questioned said they drank to increase their chance of sex.

it lacks amusing infographics. Since the BBC is classy, I will do the work for you, USA Today style. Zing!

With bar graphs, the empty white space of 16 to 35-year-olds not having sex is jarring, but for the wrong reasons. The orange and green bars fail to adequately fill the entire space and it communicates the abundance of individuals not getting drunk to increase their chance of sex. These “normies” are too well represented in this graph.

A better inforgraphic would quickly communicate the signifigance of the alchies in the total population. By using pie charts, this diagram quickly communicates the significance of the boozers looking for hookups. The use of of a subtle color helps draw emphasis on the important topic matter instead of having an abundance of white space.

Reporting the prevalence of drinking to increase sex is important. Thanks BBC.
