English Speaking TV has nothing on Telemundo

For instance, cellphones are prominently featured in a new telenovela, “Sin Tetas No Hay Paraíso” in English, “Without Breasts, There is No Paradise.” A particular company’s cellphone could “become a character” in the series, Mr. Rodriguez said, as the human characters “use it for texting, for getting information, as opposed to its just sitting on a table.”

From the NYT

I realize its a promo picture but WTF, Motorola? Seriously? If I were running a TV show about a cellphone becoming “a character” it sure as hell wouldn’t be Moto.

Last I checked, it’s 2008 and holding a PEBL is like being the weird kid who couldn’t get a date to homecoming. Thank god at least one person is holding a RAZR2 (or like equivalent) or damnit, I wouldn’t watch this show.

I’m sorry, if I’m going to sit through 22 minutes of Spanish television with three commercial breaks to see a nice lady wearing a Baby One More Time outfit text her blonde schoolmate, I expect some realism. Clearly, missing five of seven buttons is something that is likely to happen everyday for a blonde schoolgirl. Carrying a 2005 PEBL? Ridiculous.
