This is the first time I’ve seen a cake that I just wouldn’t eat. You’ve gotta love the DC+Marvel mashup too. Also, Batman > Superman.

This for some reason makes me laugh. Now think of the comic bubble with a Franco accent. Classic.

If you’ve never read Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E., you’re missing out on some great stuff…
(submission - I’ve read it, and totally agree.)

This has bugged me for a while, and I want to address this.
First off, no, you’re not going mad. These are two versions of the same image from Batman: The Killing Joke, by writer Alan Moore and artist Brian Bolland. On the left, you’ll see the iconic image from the original print of the graphic novel, with colors by John Higgins. On the right, you’ll see the image from the “Deluxe Edition” reprinted in 2008 with colors by artist Brian Bolland, ignoring the directions given by Alan Moore and instead doing the colors he felt were more appropriate.
I’m using this image as an example for a reason, because the Joker is telling Jim Gordon “You’re Going Mad.”. What Bolland seems to have missed in his re-coloring is the visceral effect of the neon nightmare that was the original’s intent. Moore is an intricate mastermind, he understands that in order to get the reader to understand the psychosis the Joker is trying to induce, the reader needs to feel a tad off, and that’s what the original coloring does. It makes you feel uncomfortable, as those colors are just too much for the brain to comprehend.
So, if you ever get the chance to read Batman: The Killing Joke, I implore you to track down and read the original print. It’ll be well worth it.
